About Our Railings
Railings are an integral part your deck, especially when decks are more than 2' above grade reflecting the code in Ontario. It is not necessary to have a railing below 2' however, it does add an aesthetic value when done properly. Railings can be 36" high up to a deck level 4' above grade. After that railings must be 48" high. Railings, no matter the design, adds value to your deck and by extension, to your home.
Railings come in different materials, each with its benefits. The starting point of railing choices is pressure treated rails and balusters. This is our basic pressure treated railing. It's built in a more aesthetic way than a typical builder's railing which consists of balusters screwed on to the outside of the rails. This design allows for replacing the wood balusters with metal balusters or cable tied.
This is an aluminum railing with simple balusters. This particular railing is 36" high as it is situated less than 4' high from grade, in fact it is at ground level. Aluminum railings are a popular choice for exterior railings because they are durable, lightweight, and low-maintenance, and are resistant to rust and corrosion.
There are many looks and styles to our railings including decorative and colour choices. This is an Aluminum railing in black with glass insert. Designs include glass insert with mullions or sub-rails.
This railing combines aluminum baluster panels with aluminum and glass inserts to create a look that fit into the backyard space. Aluminum railings are extremely customizable and we can usually fit them anywhere in any style. Other choices include baluster size, post size, powder coating colour and rail top design.
This is a Fiberon composite railing product. The posts they offer are 5" as opposed to the more traditional 3-4" making composite ideal for larger decks. Composite railing systems offer customizable options like unique hand rails or balusters/inserts, allowing you, the customer, to customize as you wish to complete your vision.
Glass railings are another popular option for exterior railings, particularly for modern and contemporary designs. Glass railings provide a sleek, minimalist look that is perfect for high-end buildings and commercial spaces but have become very popular in home backyard spaces. We offer
higher frameless glass railing - side (fascia) mounted. This is a distinctly customized system.
higher frameless glass railing - side (fascia) mounted. This is a distinctly customized system.
Frameless glass railing for a front of house deck. Glass offers an unobstructed view, making them an excellent choice for areas that overlook scenic areas. Glass railings are easy to clean and maintain, and they are also very durable. Tempered glass, which is used for most glass railings, is up to four times stronger than regular glass and can withstand extreme weather conditions.
Another type of railing that works for many areas is the cable tie railing. Aluminum posts tied down with stainless steel cables tightened to the right tension. The system provides the safety and structure of other tried and true railing systems. It is a unique way of doing railings with unobstructed views, yet perfectly safe.
