​​​Caring For Your New Deck Now it's built, A New Wood deck should be sealed once it has had time to dry out (8-12 weeks. so sealant isn't rejected). With our process, any deck sealed every 2 or 3 years will give you many years of enjoyment. Deck staining, deck restoration and deck resurfacing are all included in our Deck Refinishing services we offer.
For seasoned decks, we offer restoration services because older decks can be brought back to life. Rotting surface boards, loose railings, posts coming up due to frost, loose boards, and general fatigue can all be mitigated with our program. With our weather, wear and tear is inevitable and early care will help with longevity. |

Preparation for Cedar and Pressure Treated New Decks - Staining and Sealing to Make Your Deck Last
When your deck is finished, you should consider sealing your new deck with stain and sealer. Colours range from clear to black. There are many types of sealants and stains to choose from , however, we vigorously recommend CUTEK EXTREME transparent products. Solid stains tend to peel and flake over a short time, Cutek does not when applied using our program. Solid stains tend to cover wood grains and actually harm wood in the long run as they tend to have a smothering effect, keeping moisture in. Oil based stains build up resistance to water damage the more you apply it as the oil continues to be retained. With our oil finish program there is likely no sanding when refinishing may be required Hardwoods such as IPE require a slightly different sealing process. We never recommend covering cedar and hardwoods with solid stains, it would be a waste of beautiful wood. |
