Deck lighting is an excellent way to enhance your backyard experience. From recessed lights that sit flush on the surface of your deck to stair lights that add an element of safety, there are countless ways to upgrade your new or existing deck. Don't worry, most of these lighting systems are low voltage so you don't have to worry about your energy bill skyrocketing! When choosing how you want to light your backyard, it's important to keep a few things in mind. Namely; budget, ambiance, and function. For example, many customers with overhead structures opt for hanging lights as a budget friendly way to increase visibility and create a warm night time atmosphere. Hanging lights are not usually the best choice for ambience but do offer the cost effectiveness. If you are thinking about changing your existing railing system? Or perhaps you are building a new deck? Did you know that many of the aluminum and composite railing systems we work with offer lighting on each of the post caps? The wiring is hidden within tracks on the posts so the entire system is seamlessly integrated into your railings. If you are leaning towards wood railings, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on sleek lighting options either. We install post lighting for 4x4 or 6x6 posts, or strip lighting for railings all while custom grooving the wood to create seamless tracks for any style of railing. If you have an elevated deck and staircase to your backyard, we highly recommend having stair lighting installed. We typically install these as recessed lights (with different finish options) into the riser boards to perfectly illuminate each step, and drastically improve the safety of your stairs all while looking chic. Surface lights around the perimeter of your deck, if placed in strategic locations, will add function and elegance to your deck that will please you and add a sense of safety. When installing exterior lights, most customers opt for a timer system connected to their exterior GFCI outlet. This method is less expensive and essentially makes it so you never have to worry about turning them on or off. Your dog will thank you every night when he needs to use them. We can also integrate them into your exterior light switch, but keep in mind this method is slightly more costly. Our selection is extensive. |
